Pilates has long been marketed as a form of fitness for those who appear naturally limber, lithe and lean. Well, that's just the perspective of Ad Execs. Pilates is, and always has been, a philosophy to create healthy efficient bodies no matter their size, shape or gender. Originally created to keep injured soldiers strong and healthy, it has shifted in the hands of each master teacher, population reached and alongside evolving exercise science. Pilates is a tool for optimal fitness and health that we can all use.
In this workshop we will create a safe space to discuss concerns, myths and challenges specific to the Plus Size Body. We will begin with basic Pilates exercises and move towards more advanced movement with plenty of time to stop and address questions. Participants are encouraged to bring their fears, frustrations and especially their motivation to try something previously intimating, confusing or seemingly out-of-reach.
We will meet for 3 Wednesdays, price includes one regular class at our Cobble Hill location. Participants are encouraged to take the class during the workshop weeks so questions can be addressed within the group. All participants will receive 10% off their first Class Pack after completing the workshop.
